Tim Culp
Tim Culp was appointed to the Board of Regents of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø on March 13, 2023, by Gov. Greg Abbott. He serves the board as chair of the Finance & Investments Committee and on the Regents’ Rules Review Committee. His term expires on Jan. 31, 2029.
Culp is the owner and president of Double T Energy & Investments LLC, as well as the co-owner and president of Desert Production, Inc. He previously served as president and co-owner of Southwest Royalties, Inc., where he led operations for more than 60 full-time and contract employees across 1,300 oil and gas wells, primarily in the Permian Basin region, which includes parts of West Â鶹¹ÙÍø and southeast New Mexico. In January 2024, Southwest Royalties, Inc. was sold to a group of investors led by Masked Rider Capital. Before this, he was co-founder and president of Tandem Energy Corporation and vice president of Adobe Resources Corporation.
Culp served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Tech Foundation, Inc., and he was a member of the Athletics and Academic Committees. He is a current member and a former board member of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association, as well as a past member of both the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Society of CPAs and the American Society of CPAs.
He is a former board member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce and the former chair of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society—West Â鶹¹ÙÍø Division. He also served on the executive team for First Methodist Church—Midland and was chairman of Midland Fair Havens, a local faith-based organization that assists single mothers and their families.
Culp earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Â鶹¹ÙÍø Tech University (TTU) in 1981. He and his wife, Annette, who graduated from TTU with a degree in interior design, reside in Midland. Their children, Corey Culp, Kristin Groner and Tanner Culp, are also graduates of TTU, and their daughter, Lindsay Schwab, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Culp enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time with his nine grandchildren.
