Whitmore to Step Down as President, Resume Position as Professor
President Jon Whitmore announces his return to the Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech faculty.

President Jon Whitmore announced today (Feb.1) that he is stepping down as president, effective Jan. 31, 2009, or when a new permanent president takes office, whichever is earlier. He plans to return to the faculty as a professor.

Dear Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech University Community:
I want to inform each of you that I will be stepping down as President of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech University effective January 31, 2009 or when a new president takes office. I plan to return to my position as a Professor.
The strength of Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech University is its people. Each of you as individuals and all of you as a collective enterprise have worked day-in-and-day-out to advance our missions of teaching, research, and public service. During my five years we have kept the idea of putting people first as a guiding standard. You are those people. Jennifer and I are grateful for your continuous friendship and support and for your great effort to make Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech better each year. Together we have accomplished much.
The future for Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tech is very bright and we will carry our banner high as we move forward and upward.
