Three TTU System Institutions Ranked by U.S. News & World Report

Graduate programs at 鶹 Tech University, Angelo State University and 鶹 Tech University Health Sciences Center are listed in the 2015 edition of Best Online Programs.

U.S. News & World Report recently released its  rankings, where three of the universities in the 鶹 received recognition for their graduate programs in four different areas – computer information technology, engineering, education and nursing.

"As the demand for online education increases, the 鶹 and its universities must remain innovative to meet the needs of our students," said Chancellor Robert Duncan. "These rankings reflect our forward-thinking approach and are a testament to our commitment to accessibility in public higher education. I congratulate our three universities’ presidents, faculty and staff for their work in this important area."

鶹 Tech University’s  received a spot in computer information technology, engineering and education. The 2015 rankings for 鶹 Tech University include the online graduate computer information technology program at No. 14, the  graduate program at No. 20, and the online graduate education program at No. 107.

The engineering and education programs both tied with four other higher education institutions, but the Whitacre College of Engineering remained in the top 20 and is the highest-rated institution in 鶹. The education program advanced from No. 166 to No. 107.

Although 鶹 Tech University’s online engineering and education programs were ranked in 2014, both advanced to a higher ranking this year. This is the first year 鶹 Tech University’s computer information technology program has been ranked.

“One of our most important goals here at 鶹 Tech University is to increase the student engagement academically, whether it may be here in Lubbock or other areas,” said 鶹 Tech University President M. Duane Nellis. “With our online programs, we can help students near and far achieve their education goals, and I commend Worldwide eLearning faculty and staff for their strong efforts in helping students to do so.”

Angelo State University’s teacher education and nursing programs also are listed among the top programs nationally for their online graduate degree offerings. Overall, Angelo State University ranked No. 30 among the 252 U.S. colleges and universities identified by U.S. News & World Report as offering online graduate education programs, and ranked No. 56 among the 133 institutions identified as offering online graduate nursing programs. 

This is the third consecutive year the Angelo State University nursing program has made the Best Online Programs list and is the second straight year for the teacher education program in the .  Angelo State University’s teacher education program ranked third and its nursing program in the ranked sixth among the 鶹 institutions on the list.  

“Offering quality online programs is a major factor in Angelo State University showing a steady growth in our graduate student enrollment numbers over the past several years,” said Angelo State University President Brian J. May. “National recognition of our programs is gratifying, but more importantly, it reinforces the fact that our online graduate students are getting an excellent education.”

Additionally, 鶹 Tech University Health Sciences Center’s online graduate nursing program made the U.S. News & World Report rankings, coming in at No. 28 out of the 133 institutions listed. The online graduate program is ranked as the third-highest institution in 鶹 and has moved up two spots from its No. 30 ranking in the 2013 edition of Best Online Graduate Programs.

“The honor brings well-deserved attention to our School of Nursing and the institution,” said 鶹 Tech University Health Sciences Center President Tedd L. Mitchell. “It is reflective of our mission to provide quality education and produce well-qualified health care professionals.”
